Ms. Kays provided an Enterprise-wide Risk Assessment which status updates to apprise the committee of recent events. Areas of note for the audit committee include: †¢ Corporate Compliance †¢ Information Systems Technology –HIPAA Security †¢ IRS 990 †¢ Medicare RAC Review †¢ Sarbanes-Oxley †¢ Stark Laws Ms. Kays provided the committee with information an update on the Medicare RAC review process. CMS had offered a settlement to try to address the large backlog of cases which paid hospitals to resolve pending appeals or waive the right to appeal in exchange for timely partial payment of 68% of the net payable amount. Ms. Keys explained that the Organization did not opt for the settlement. Review of the cases in question and related documentation supported revising the charges to reflect observation, not inpatient. For calendar year 2014, the Organization had 108 cases totaling $326,226 reviewed, with 37 cases totaling $53,345 questioned/denied. January through March 2015 had 34 cases totaling $179,764 subject to review. Of those, 9 totaling $55,579 were in appeals at June 19, 2015. October 1, 2015 is the go live date for ICD 10. The transition to ICD 10 reaches many areas including patient care, charge capture, and collections and reimbursements. On the patient care side, ICD 10 provides the opportunity to better identify the specific nature of a procedure due to the increase in codes from 18,000 under ICD 9 to over 80,000 under ICD10. Introduction At some point in the life of a high school student, community college becomes an option when applying to colleges. In some cases for those looking to further their education past high school it is still an option, even to students who are already in college. However, not everyone is able to see the benefits of attending a community college. Somehow in the past millennia, community college somehow gained the reputation of being a punishment for things such as having bad grades in high school, sometimes due to things the student can’t control. It is my hope that I will be able to change this opinion of community college and actually encourage the idea that community college can help students to improve their grades and get†¦show more content†¦Beginning the research process, and even now writing this paper, I have no idea exactly what I was looking for. At the time I was just searching to see what was out there in the way of credible sources relating to my topic and goi ng with what I felt would be able to help me the most. I admit it’s not a great method, but it allowed me to find some very helpful sources that made writing this paper easier for me. Regardless, I found a variety of information ranging from personal statements, to interviews, to journal articles, it actually surprised me how much information I was found.
